No. Downloads of large files (pdf documents, for example) can be impracticable on a mobile device. But Total Derivatives operates a lean mobile website. It typically takes 30 seconds to access an article from an email link on a BlackBerry. It typically takes 20 seconds to access articles from the mobile homepage. Access time depends critically on the strength of network coverage, however.
Is the mobile site compatible with other devices?
The mobile site is configured to operate optimally with the latest BlackBerry handheld. It also works with older BlackBerry devices, though the formatting is basic. Total Derivatives does not support other mobile devices. Our market research found that over 90% of subscribers requesting mobile access wanted access via a BlackBerry. We aim to extend to other mobile devices when 3G networks become more prevalent.
How do I avoid site security locking my access?
Users enabled for mobile access are able to access the site from one desktop web browser and one BlackBerry web browser during any 24-hour period.
